Activities

In the local area there is an abundance of activities and attractions for all the family, including but most certainly not limited to the following;

The Clan Macpherson Museum

The Clan Macpherson Museum, situated at the south end of the Newtonmore, contains many fascinating relics of the history of the Clan. The museum and it's staff provide a wealth of information for those interested in the history of the Clan or the Highlands in general. The museum is open from 1st April to 31st October each year from 10am to 5pm (Monday - Saturday), 12noon to 5pm (sunday). There is no admission charge but donations are always welcome. Macpherson related souvenirs are available for sale in the Museum Shop.

The Highland Folk Museum

The Highland Folk Museum brings to life the domestic and working conditions of earlier Highland peoples. Visitors to this living history Museum can learn how our Scottish Highland ancestors lived, how they built their homes, how they tilled the soil and how they dressed, in a friendly and welcoming environment. An award winning visitor attraction, the Museum not only encapsulates human endeavour and development in Highland life from the 1700s to the present day, but offers an opportunity to explore a beautiful natural setting, home to red squirrels and tree creepers. A great day out for everyone!

The Highland Wildlife Park

Based at Kincraig, near Aviemore, the Highland Wildlife Park is more of an experience than a visitor attraction. Discover the amazing variety of wildlife found in present day Scotland, such as the pine marten, wildcat, otter and capercaillie - then step back in time and meet the creatures that roamed the earth hundreds, even thousands of years ago - the animals of your ancestors, such as wolves, lynx, reindeer and wild horses.The Highland Wildlife Park has expanded its species collection further to include endangered animals from the world's mountain and tundra regions. Already home to snow monkeys, red pandas, yak and Amur tigers, the Park will also soon welcome our camels and snow leopards!
